Chief Operating Officer - Saadiya AMINU

Sa’adiya Aliyu has had a varied career in a number of roles, bringing her characteristic drive and inter-personal skills to each role she has taken. From the civil service to the private sector she has been a game changer in every position she has occupied.

During her 13 year career Sa’adiya has worked in the public and private sector. She began her career with Debt Management Office, The Presidency, in charge of sovereign debt management she was an instrumental member of the team that not only managed Nigeria’s $32Bn external debt, but also received the historic debt relief. She also played a key role in a number of policy objectives. She brought her experience and skills to bear on policy dialogues concerning debt reduction strategy with the Paris and London clubs. She helped draft the “fiscal responsibility” bill, which was passed into law. She also contributed towards the borrowing policy, interfacing with key parties to deliver a rounded policy.

 

Director/AGM- Building Services – Arch. Muktar Ibrahim

Muktar Ibrahim serves as Director and Project Manager/Coordinator for Urban Shelter as well as its subsidiary company, Urban Abode.  He also serves as a Director for Shelter Clay Products Ltd, a sister company that manufactures assorted burnt clay bricks.

He was recently appointed AGM-Building Services overseeing Quantity Survey, Architecture, Mechanical & Electrical Units of Urban Shelter. Mr. Ibrahim spent 5 years in the New York Institute of Technology obtaining a Bachelor of Architecture Degree, where Cum Laude Honors was awarded with the B. Arch Diploma.

He was presented with an ‘award of excellence’ at Commencement from the New York Council of the American Society of Registered Architects. Upon graduation he went on to work with the prestigious Femi Majekudunmi Architects (FMA) on a high-rise office design for USL. 

AGM - Residential & Commercial Projects - Engr. Bachir Abba, PMP

With over 10 years of international experience in real estate, construction, engineering and project management, Bachir Abba Leads , coordinates and oversees the Residential and Commercial division of Urban Shelter. He also provides technical support to the quality control team, the tender board and the business development units. He is a certified project manager (PMP) from the  Project Management Institute.

 Bachir Abba have been exposed to assorted management tasks. Prior to Joining Urban Shelter, he served in construction project management at Clark Construction, LLC in Washington; in process engineering at Rohm & Haas in Delaware and Arkema Group in Philadelphia as a quality engineer. 

Bachir is a member, and serves on committees of various engineering, project management and real estate affiliated organization in Nigeria and the Washington, DC area such as National Society of Professional Engineers, U.S. Green Building Council and District of Columbia Building Industry Association. He graduated Magma Cum Laude from Drexel University, Philadelphia with a B.S degree in Mechanical Engineering before completing dual M.S degree in Structural and Mechanical Engineering in 2007.

 

AGM- Affordable Housing – Engr. Rilwan Salihu Aliyu

He is a holder of Bachelor of Technology Degree in Building from Federal University of Technology Minna with a second class Hons.  He has a Proficiency certificate in Auto Cad and Project Management, Member Nigerian Institute of Building Project Manager.

Mr. Aliyu is saddled with the responsibility of overseeing development of mass affordable housing.

He was the Project Executive in charge of Brick city mass housing development from 2004 to 2014, leaving behind over 1,000 affordable homes, 100% occupied.  He serves on the Management Team where he contributes to the growth and development of the company.

 

 

AGM- Infrastructure – Engr. Isa Abdullahi Kure

He heads Infrastructure Department of Urban Shelter Limited. His department is saddled with the responsibility of designing and constructing all civil engineering related projects for the company and also championing provision of essential infrastructures for our “Site & Services” plots.

Engr. Kure is a holder of an Associate’s degree and a BSc in Civil Engineering Technology from the USA.  He was registered with the American Society of Civil Engineers and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam in the USA in 2002.

He has a vast experience of over twenty years in civil engineering works.  Internationally, he worked in the USA for over a decade in General Construction mostly in the Geotechnical area, and at one time served as Laboratory Manager of Geotechnical Testing Services Inc. in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania.  Locally, he held the position of Chairman, Direct Labour Unit of the Federal University of Technology, Minna.

 

AGM- Finance – Mallam Yakubu Hassan Lemu

He has a graduate degree in Accounting from illustrious Ahmadu Bello University which he followed up with an MBA from Bayero University Kano.  Prior to joining Urban Shelter Limited Mallam Yakubu Hassan Lemu worked in the Niger State Government where he was involved in a number of key policy dialogues. He joined the Urban Shelter family as part of the Finance & Accounts team where he excelled.

He is currently the Head of Finance at Urban Shelter a position which has enabled him to introduce new cutting edge techniques in corporate finance and investment decision making as well as streamlining the operations of the department.

Mallam Yakubu Hassan Lemu is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ACA). He also Hold ACCA Certificate in International financial Reporting and also a member of Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN)

AGM- Corporate Services – Francis Olorunfemi

He is a graduate of Economics (Bsc Hons) in 1989 from the University of Jos, Jos Plateau State. He was employed with the Kwara State Ministry of Education where he taught Economics, Mathematics, Government and Commerce in the school where he was assigned.

He left the teaching profession after two years and joined Urban Shelter Savings and Loans Limited, Lagos where he worked in the Banking Operations, Mortgage Credit and Administrative Departments.

In 1999, he joined Urban Shelter Limited, Abuja.  During his 11 years at Urban Shelter he worked for five years in the Purchasing Department before he was appointed Head of the Administrative Department and Personal Assistant to the Managing Director/CEO in 2004.

He has the responsibility of overseeing the general administration of the company, Sales & Marketing Unit, Human Resources unit, Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Unit as well as our Land, Estate & Records Unit (LERU).

 

AGM- Internal Audit – Ismail Badru

Ismail has acquired vast experience in financial services sector. He has worked with Heritage Assurance, Capital Assets Ltd (a member of Nigeria Stock Exchange) and Access Bank Plc. He has valuable experience in finance, accountancy, policy formulation, internal control system & auditing having worked at different times in the accounts, audit and operations departments of the organizations he has been with.

Ismail Badru is a Graduate of Accountancy. He passed the qualifying exam of the famous Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in the year 2000 and was inducted Associate member (ACA) of the Institute in the year 2001. He became a Fellow (FCA) of the Institute in the year 2013 having successfully practised the accountancy profession for over ten years. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and has passed the ACCA certification exam on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

As the pioneer head & staff of the internal audit department, he set up the internal audit department, developed the internal audit framework and has introduced several turnaround policies to safeguard the company's assets and guarantee the effectiveness and efficiency of our business operations.

The internal audit department carries out routine audit of all strategic units,  departments and projects of the company to ensure adherence to our established standards, policies & procedures and guarantee success of our developmental activities & operations
